Fluency in math
1. Having a
specific schedule to help
the children in your classroom to learn fluent math, will help a teacher and a
child to keep you focusing on each day to make math more clear and
understandable… so here it is:
Monday: Make it clear
Tuesday: Take it, Use it
Wednesday: Work on it
Thursday: Think it through
Friday: Fix and finish
2. Aerobic Place Value Cards
- The tool to show the meaning of place value. When was the last time students asked you to play a math game?
The Aerobic Place Value Cards are a great way to make place value come alive in
the classroom. They are designed to help students really understand place
value as you teach how numbers standardize and expand in a powerful but fun
way. The cards are used as an active tool in the classroom, as students move in
response to numbers called out by the teacher.
Some examples would be whole numbers
and decimal cards.
3.
Flashcards are a great way of helping a child to be fluent in math. I know that
these can be very helpful for a child. We of course would have fractions and
decimals, maybe using place value and reducing fractions etc.
