Manipulative Materials
- Pizza Boxes-The students will have their own pizza
box. The 8 cut pizza design will be for the students to manipulate to
solve fractions.
- Pattern Blocks-The students will have a bucket of
pattern blocks. The cut blocks will be for the students to manipulate
to solve
fractions.
- Cuisenaire Rods-The students will have a box of
rods. The rods are pieces that the students can use to manipulate
fraction
problems.
- Have students write a story about how many pieces
of pizza they can eat. Have them describe what part of the fraction
they ate and what part was remaining. (The pizza has eight slices
or you can vary the amount of slices per pizza). Have the
students describe their favorite kind of pizza.
