Dictionary for third graders to use with math words and concepts:
Take a sheet of card stock and cut it in half. Place the halves so that they make a book and put a hole punch into the ends- place each about 1 inch from the ends. Then place half sheets of writing paper between the book stock paper and hole-punch all of these the same way you did the cover. Using a small piece of paper, roll this up about the size of a pencil and by putting rubber bands through each of the ends secure the rolled up paper and you have created a book.
With the dictionary, every time a student makes an
entry for a word or needs more information on a math term they should
also add a
visual picture. Example: If division is a
word the student does not understand, they must find a picture or
pictures to
help them see division. Use old books
and magazines for help with the pictures.
