Dictionary Ideas

 

1.      At the beginning of the week, students will be given a spelling list to study.  On Wednesday, the students will take a quiz from the spelling list.  Any misspelled words should be defined in their student dictionary, and they should integrate the word in a sentence.  After all words are defined and written in a sentence, the student should come up with a way to use all of the words in a paragraph.

2.      After introduced to new or specific words in a chapter, students will give two to four interesting/unique/defining facts about the word that will help them to remember the definition.  The definition doesn’t necessarily have to be written down, but clues should be given.  Next, students will draw a picture that will also help them remember the definition and facts about the word.
