Authentic assessment ideas

1. The students will create a bill. They will then have to get this bill passed by their peers. They will have to follow all the steps in getting a bill passed. Such as the right amount of votes and the presidents of the class (the teacher) passing the bill into a law. This will help the teacher to see if the students understand the process it takes to make a bill.

2. The students will design a pamphlet for their campaign for president. They will have to include all of the things it requires to become a president. Such as a born citizen, etc. They will then have to campaign to their group as to why they should be president. This will give the teacher a clear understanding of the student’s knowledge of what it takes to become president.

3. The class will run their own senate or presidential meeting. They will have to cover as many of the positions as the class is big enough for. those students will then have to play their part to the best of their ability. Although this may be simple it will help the teacher to see if the students understand and follow the rules of political meetings.
