Authentic and Meaningful Writing Assignments

                                        

1.      After talking about the IncaÕs, have the children write about how life would have been, if they had lived in the Incan world. Include how their culture would have been, their home and family life, and survival techniques.

 

 

2.      After talking about community service, have the children write about what they would do to change the community, or how could they be of service to the community. Have them think up ideas on new clubs, activities, parks, or something that they think could help the community out, that they would be comfortable being a part of.

 

 

 

3.      Draw and describe how their Incan city would have looked. Have them label market places, homes, farms, etc., and explain how each place would have been set up, how it ran, and why they chose for these places to be where they are.

 

 

4.      After talking about maps, have them draw a map of anything of their choice. Using a legend to describe the features of the map. Have them use markings for railroads, roads, rivers, and other geographical markers. Have them describe what their map is of, and why map reading is important.
