Current Events:

Each student will bring in a newspaper article that deals with the government. They will be in charge of finding their article, cutting it out, and bringing it to class. The students will take turns explaining their article to the rest of the class. Afterwards you can use the articles to make a bulletin board of current events.

Biography of the President:

Have each student do some research about the current president of the United States and have them find three facts about him (ex: where he was born, birthday, hobbies, etc). Each student will share what they found and come up with some illustration describing it, than create a bulletin board as a class about our President.
