COMPREHENSION STRATEGIES  

-Creating a picture- After reading a novel, students will draw their favorite scene from the book.  The pictures will be shared with the class. 

-Present for favorite character- Ask students to pretend they are going to throw a birthday party for his/her favorite character. Have them state where the party will be, how it will be decorated, who will be invited, and what gifts the character will receive.  

-Create a different book cover for a novel- Have students use their creativity and knowledge of the book by asking them to illustrate a cover of a novel. 

-Have students act out a scene from a book, by dressing up and memorizing their lines. 

-Students will learn a song that goes along with a book.  They will get into groups and practice so that they can share it with the class.
