Environmental Print

Standard 6: Objective 2 Use multiple resources to learn new words by relating them to known words and/or concepts.

 

For our Environmental Print, the students will go home and find in a newspaper or magazine article applicable to what they are learning in math at the current time and apply it to the discussion topic. The teacher has each student find an article pertaining to the math lesson for that week.

For Example: The students might collect average precipitation for different climates. They might find data for the precipitation in local newspapers or through the Internet.   Then the teacher can create a bulletin board displaying the different precipitation amounts for different parts of the country.
