Fluency Strategies (3)
Ring of Words - write out words on 3x5in index cards. Begin with 10 word cards, 7 known words and 3 unknown words. Arrange the words in no particular order. Review the words with the child. When he or she reads them correctly, add a sticker or a check mark to the corner. Continue to add new words throughout the year. This can be practiced in the classroom in pairs ore even be sent home so that the parent can practice with their child.

Readers Theatre Students are placed into groups of 4 or 5 students. Theses students pick a story or are given one from the teacher. They then have to make the script for the story based on what is told in the story. Since the emphasis here is fluency, the students need not have the script memorized when they present it, only be able to read it without mistake. The groups then present their plays to the class.
