1.These names listed above are artists found in the sixth grade Fine Arts Core. When sixth grade students are learning about these names they may have difficulty pronouncing them. One way for them to decode the correct pronunciation would be to categorize the artists by origin. Example: Edward Manet is from France. In French if there is vowel before a T, the T is silent.

 

       2. Another decoding strategy that can be used for art would be to pencil in the long and short vowels for each name, such as put a long line above long vowels and a curve line over short vowels.
