Language Arts Standard VI: Vocabulary-Students learn and use grade level vocabulary to increase understanding and read fluently. After students have learned new vocabulary, use those words in an art project. Have the students look in a magazine for one picture that would represent those words. Have students trace the outline of the picture with a magic marker. Then have the students write the vocabulary words in the picture they just traced. If the words were related to art…. Horizon, vertical, lines; they could trace a picture of the world and then write the words in the outlined picture. The assessment could be making sure that the students understand why those words fit with that particular picture, also making sure that the words are spelled correctly. Have students write a paragraph explaining why these words would correlate with the picture they chose.
