Authentic Writing Assignment

After reading The Diary of Anne Frank have your students write a diary of their own as if they were Anne’s best-friend, who was not Jewish and did not have to hide. Instruct them to write about; what could be going on around them, their feelings they might have about their lives and the war, and also the feelings that they might have when they think of their ‘best-friend’ Anne in hiding.
