Book Report Ideas

Let your students choose a book from the leveled book reading list, appropriate for their reading level. After they have read the book have them choose a book report idea for those below. Each student will have different strengths and will therefore feel comfortable with different projects.

~ Draw at least three pictures for the story, this must include one that introduces the characters and setting for the book, one that shows the climax of the story, and one that shows part of the resolution of the story.

~ Make up a song about the book using the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell”, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”, “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”, or another song approved by your teacher. Do not use the whole story, just summarize it.

~ Write a one page summary of the book including the introduction of the characters and setting, the climax, and the resolution of the story.

~ With at least one other person create a 5-10 minute scene and act out the summarized version of the book you read.

~ Do a basic outline of the book you have read, and be prepared to present it to the class.
