Comprehension Strategies
1.
Have the students give an oral presentation on the solar system. Suggest that they compare the physical
properties of the planets, use models and graph that accurately depict their size,
and compare the size and distance between objects in the solar system. They could also find and report on ways
technology has been used to investigate the solar system.
2.
At the beginning of the year, the teacher can hand out a quiz with
vocabulary words on them and have the students answer the ones that they
know. This way, the teacher can
focus more on what they don’t know instead of reteaching.
3.
Have the students match their vocabulary words to pictures and actions
of the words.
4.
Have the students use the vocabulary words to write sentences and have
them share them within their group or in front of the class.
