Assessment 2
Purpose: To discover the student’s ability to work in groups
and be able to present their ideas in front of the class. This activity is also used to learn about
each individual’s creativity. This also
gives the teacher background knowledge of the students about poem writing.
Pre-activity:
The students will break into
groups by however many people are at each table. If they are at desks, then they need to break
into groups of six. Each group will be
given an item to write a poem about. You
will then have up to 30 minutes to come up with a poem about the item on the
desk. Remember to be creative and put on
your poem thinking caps. Correct poem
writing skills need to be used while you are writing, such as rhyme, rhythm,
meter, etc. At the end of the time period, you will present your poem in front
of the class as a group. The way that
you present your poem is also important.
The feelings that you bring as you are presenting, allows the class to
understand better about the object that you are writing about.
Activity:
Day 1: Each student will be broken into groups. Each group will be given an object to write a poem about. The students will be given thirty minutes to compose their poem. Depending on the time within the classroom, the groups will present their poems in class either today or the next class period.
