Two
Comprehension Strategies

One good strategy is to look at the
information at the beginning of the book you are about to read. First of all you can learn a lot about
the book by looking at the title alone.
This will give you an idea of what the book will be about, and it can
get your mind and imagination started to get you more interested in the
book. When you are interested you
will remember or comprehend more.
Another good idea is to look at the table of contents. It will give you a better idea of the
order of the topics, and a small outline of the information in the book.
Another
strategy for better comprehending text is using the index in the back part of
the book. If you are reading along
in a book and you come to a word or subject that you would like to know more
about then you can look up the word in the index and it will tell you if
there is more information on other
pages in the book with the same type of information on it.
