Climate

The normal climate of a forest is usually warm and damp. Sometimes during the winter it gets cold in some forests. In the Mid fall when it starts to get cold the leaves start falling off some of the trees. Many trees like fir and holly don't lose their leaves. In the Winter when it's cold, there are no leaves on many trees. In the Springtime, new green leaves grow, and in the Summer there are green leaves again on all of the trees. Also in some forests it snows in the Winter.

The largest tree is in the same California forest and is called the General Sherman Tree. It weighs 2,500 tons.

People

People who live in forests have to survive in the wild. They have to hunt there for food.  They have to learn to cook different animals. Also they make their houses out of mud, mosses, sticks, logs, and stones.

Fires and Management

In forests today, people are causing a great deal of damage. They cut down trees that make our air supply go down because trees provide oxygen. Also, sometimes people cause forest fires, which can also cause damage to the forests. Conservationists throughout the world try to preserve our forests by controlling logging and sometimes even burning parts of the forests so they can be renewed.
