* Our other idea for an authentic assessment is to have the
students pretend to pack for a
trip. They can have as many
backs as they want. A large bag is
worth 5 points, a medium bag is
worth 3 points, and a small bag is worth 1 point. After they have packed their bags they will have to add up their points. This will assess their addition skills when adding more than two
numbers. After they have added up
their total points, they could add their points to their neighbors points, and
then get a class total. You
could also try doing subtraction with the same idea.
