

á Have the students go home and look for things in their house, and community that have numbers or fractions. If they can, have them bring them to school the next day. Have a specific time set to show what they brought, or talk about what they saw. If they donŐt bring it up, talk about speed limit signs, billboards, signs at stores, etc. This activity is to help the students realize that math is everywhere. This activity applies math to their whole life.
á Have the students go to the grocery store with their parents. Have them count how many numbers they see on the outside of the store. Have them count how many signs they saw with numbers on the way to the store.
