Strategy-Inference/Prediction
Students make inferences about text they are reading to interpret meaning
and develop deeper understanding.
The teacher will read a story about snowstorms. Before the teacher begins reading she
will read them the title and question the students on what they think the story
is going to be about. The teacher
will write the predictions the class makes on the board. Next the teacher will read one passage
from the story and stop to ask the class if they want to make any other predictions.
This process will continue until the entire story is read. Then the teacher will discuss with the
students about the predictions they made that werenÕt in the story, and cross
them off.
