Generating and Answering Questions

The students will each have a copy of the same story on a hurricane.  After they have finished reading the story the teacher will let them know that they need to come up with a good open-ended question for the class discussion.  Once every student has their own question the class will get together and with the help of the teacher try to answer everyone's question.

This activity will help focus the reader's thoughts on much more than just the specific facts.  By having the students generate their own questions they will begin to think critically which will carry out into answering their classmate's questions.
