Summarizing

The teacher will select a story that deals with weather. The teacher will divide the story up into sections so that every student has a part to read. The students will be given time to read their section. Then in order of how the sections were given out the students will present their section to the class by summarizing what happened in the story in their passage. At the end of this activity the students will know the entire story by reading their section and listening to their classmates summaries.

This activity will allow the students to practice summarizing information they read, but it also allows them to see how others summarize.
