
1.) Art CenterÑ
There
will be clay and pictures of the 7 continents. The students will shape a continent of their choice out of
the clay by looking at the picture.
2.) Reading CenterÑ
There
will be a short paragraph for the students to read and answer questions. These questions will include the names
of the continents and could even show a compass for the students to learn
direction.
3.) Memory Game and Patterns CenterÑ
The
students will be using a computer at this center. Log the students on to the national geographic website
(nationalgeographic.com). Have
students click on ÒFun for KidsÓ. Then
click on ÒGamesÓ. Show them how to
scroll down until they reach ÒGeography GamesÓ. Then they will click on the 1st one labeled ÒCopycat:
Continents Memory GameÓ. The
students will play this game to help learn where the continents are located,
what each one looks like, and to help develop patterns and computer skills.
4.) Listening CenterÑ
Have
headphones set up with a book-on-tape.
The students will listen to a short passage introducing different
cultures we will soon discuss.
5.) Climate CenterÑ
The
students will appropriately match pictures of different clothing items to the
proper climate areas of the continents.
