Decoding Strategy #2

This technique can be used to teach students about blending.

Blending is another strategy we can use to help students learn to successfully decode words.

This game is called Three Cheers.

We select 5-7 two syllable words from the text that we will say in parts.

We ask the children to say each word three times in a cheer.

Example:

Teacher: Japan (Ja-pan)

Children: Japan, Japan, Japan!

This game can be used for blending onset and rhyme.
