Comprehension Strategies

1.   Read to the first discussion point.  Make new predictions in groups of 3 or 4.  Choose one prediction and act it out in front of the class.

2.   After reading a story, have students write the story using themselves and their own personal experiences.  If they have not had this type of experience have them write a fictional story.

3.   After reading the book, have the student illustrate their favorite part of the book.

4.   Using a familiar tune, write new lyrics about your favorite part of the story.
