4 Writing Assignment Ideas

Language Arts-3rd

Our ideas generally pose a question and then the children are able to write their answer in their own way. The questions may or may not follow our theme of birds, but provide many other areas of writing as well.

1. If you could be a bird what kind would you be? Why? What would you look like? What would you do?

2. If you wrote a book what kind would you write? (examples: fairytale, nonfiction, fiction, poetry) Why? Who would be the characters in your book? What information would you give in your book?

3. Remember the story of the Ravishing Raven (group book list) and his bright colored tail. If you could make a wish like the raven to be any color or colors, what would you be? Tell why you chose those colors.

4. (Prior: Class plays word puzzle game) Write a story or poem using the word you found in the puzzle. Let it be the focus and the idea to help you begin.
