Decoding Strategies

1. Use picture flashcards or picture books to help children decode the words. When they see the picture the will be able to relate them to the words.

2. Flashcards with “family names” (part of a word) at, ale, ake, ice, ouse, then have then take scrabble tiles and add to the beginning of the “family names.”
