"It's important for students to correctly spell grade level words. Correctly spelling compound words, words with plural endings, high frequency and difficult/irregular words is a valuable skill. Use spelling strategies to achieve accuracy (e.go. prediction, visualization, association). Some other vital things to incorporate with these strategies would be to encourage students to visualize words while writing and associating the spelling of new words with those of known words and word patterns.
