Center
For the center we are doing a bank and a grocery store. For the environmental print, the students will be asked to bring to class grocery ads, bank advertising and print displaying fractions. Examples shown to the students would be newspapers showing the current rate for loans, car ads showing the current percents of car loans, usually represented in a fraction. We will use these in the center to create a play area where they can do real figures with banking and store fractions. You may want to look over the different things they bring and have a quest for them to figure something out from the things the students bring to class. For example what fraction of your money you got at the bank would you need to use to buy a ¼ lb of butter.
