Authentic Writing Assignments

Volcanoes

1. Using the layers of the Earth; crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core, students will make up a song using previously chosen song tunes (ex. Mary Had a Little Lamb, Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Jack and Jill…….).
2. Students will create a short story of their feelings about volcanoes. Make it creative and fictional if desired.
3. Students will use Reader’s Theatre to act out a role play from a book or story.
4. Students will create a story about a fictional character whose life was destroyed by a volcano. Each student will write one chapter and at the end of the unit, the students will combine them into a book.
