Authentic Writing                                              

    

                                

 

1.             Summarize and explain the results of a class graph. Explain how you figured out how many ___________were in the estimating jar and how you/group came up with an exact count.

 

2.          Have the students write their own story problem and exchange problems with another student to solve.

 

3.          Read The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins.  Have the students write their own math short story.

 

4.         Once a week, have the students write in their math journals.  First, have them write about what they enjoyed and caught onto easily.  Second, have them write about what they struggled with that week in math.
