Authentic Writing Assignments

 

 

  1. Teacher brings in Dutch Pea Soup, Belgian Waffles, Italian Pizza, and Irish Cornbeef & Cabbage. Students taste each dish and write a sensory paper on one or all of them. (see, taste, smell, sound, touch, and emotional response) Standard 6, Objective 2

 

  1. Students will pull papers out of a hat. Each paper describes a person involved in World War II. Students will write journal entries as their designated person including reasons why the war is taking place, how it is affecting them, how they feel about the war, and any changes they wish they could make. Standard 6, Objective 1

 

  1. Students will read about political issues in newspapers, journals, and/or legitimate on-line resources. Students will write a letter to their local, state, or federal government representatives and share their opinion on a chosen issue. Standard 4, Objective 4
