Decoding Lesson #1

Create a word bank of words that students will relate to social studies.

Ex:

pyramid hieroglyphs

pharaoh Egypt

Pass out worksheets with copies of the word bank. Divide students into groups and split up the word bank between the groups. Assign students to break out the words from their list according to the syllables of that word and create word strips.
