Sharing Venue

For the classroom’s sharing venue, we
would have a specific location in the classroom that would be for literary
display, and to motivate the students to do their best work. To do this, we would have a chair that
would be painted gold. On this
chair the student will read to the class their literary work. In the same centered area, we would
have a board which would be permanently fixed to the wall, perhaps decorated,
to look inviting, with the words “Our Best Work.” On this board we would have a space to
mount a 5x7 picture of the
student, taken with a digital camera and printed out on the computer. Along side of their picture, we would
have a slot to hold the students work.
This would be on display for a week, in which time other students in the
class would be able to re-read the work and write their own paper (a paragraph
or two) explaining what they liked or disliked about this paper. This would be given to the teacher and
used as an opportunity for extra credit.
Graded on a pass/fail basis.
This literary board could be used to fit as many as three students a
week, allowing them more opportunities throughout the year to share their work
with the class, and to motivate them to do their best. This sharing venue also gives the
students the opportunity to take pride in their own creations.
