Shauna T. Mendini

Professional Information

Shauna Mendini serves as Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance and is the advisor for students completing a secondary licensure in dance education. Associate Professor Mendini joined SUU in 1993 after teaching at New Mexico State University. Her graduate degree is from the University of Arizona where she was the recipient of the College of Fine Art’s Creative Achievement Award. Ms. Mendini performed with the American Folk Ballet for over 25 years in both national and international venues with the Russian tour providing topic for the PBS documentary Distant Dance.  As a choreographer, two of her works, No Exit and Heartsong, were performed at ACDFA’s Gala Concerts.  In addition to her university teaching and administrative responsibilities, Ms. Mendini serves as a visiting evaluator for the National Association of Schools of Dance. In 1996 she received Southern Utah University’s Creative Publication Award and in 2001, she was honored with a Distinguished Educators Award.
