------------------------------------------------
Dr. Mulderink is an effective teacher in that he makes
his presentations interesting and informative. I enjoy his use of group
presentations and feel this has provided the class with another outlet for
learning.
I felt that his exams were a bit overwhelming and difficult to prepare for in
terms of my ability to provide all the information necessary for an A grade
(his exams were one part IDs and one part long essay). This difficulty, I feel,
arose from the fact that he only has two exams the entire course -- the midterm
and the final. So, it was difficult to know how to prepare for his exams,
whereas in other history courses where we are tested more frequently I was able
to get a taste for the teacher's expectations and therefore knew how better to
study and present my knowledge during an exam.
Overall, I would say that Dr. Mulderink is an excellent instructor! A+!
--------------
This class was good but the lectures were overall very boring. Just because it is history doesn't mean it can't be interesting. Professor Mulderink set forth some interesting assignments. It was better than the things I've done for other classes. We were separated into groups and each group had to teach a class on a specific topic. The other assignment is, of course, the service learning project. These assignments are a great way of showing students what kind of work they will be doing with a degree. However, we still were assigned a full reading load everynight. Between keeping up with the assignments and the reading I felt I was doing more hours of homework than is typically required of a 3credit class. I also felt the essay tests were a bit bias. It seemed as the professor felt there was only way to interpret historical evidence and if you didn't necessarily interpret things the way he did, you got marked down. I think this is a very narrow minded way to go about things in a college atmosphere.
--------------
--------------
Professor Mulderink's Tests were tough, but he gave you plenty of time to prepare and study. I didn't want to do a service learning project at the start of the semester, but now that I did it, I am grateful he assigned it. I am taking his 2710 class next semester because of attitude and energy that he brings to class.
--------------
he was a good instuctor and I really enjoyed the class
--------------
--------------
--------------
The professor is very knowledgeable in his subject. I feel his methods of teaching are very good.
--------------
I really liked the group presentations and the power point presentations that made note takeing easier.
--------------
I thought it was a great class. It moved fast. I sometimes had questions, but because of a lack of time in class I usually didnt ask. They were questions that would have led to a more indepth discussion. I will be taking other history classes that hopefully will cover the same material, but more indepth. I really did enjoy the class.
--------------
Good Class. I am lookig forward to using the information.
--------------
I enjoyed the course. The group assignment had too many people in it making it possible for some students to work hard and others to float by without contributing very much. However, for the most part the group projects were valuable in providing information in different ways. The service learning should be optional, with another assignment, i.e. research given as an alternative because it seems counter productive to require "service."
--------------
I really enjoyed the group projects where we were able get more involved
--------------
This was a great class and I learned a lot
--------------
The group presentations were a joke and it seemed as
though it was a
way that he could get out of teaching class for a total of 4 weeks.
--------------
The media presentations helped break things up, as did the group presentations. The long lectures and just powerpoint presentations became a bit tedious.
--------------
good class. i thought that he was a little harsh in his grading and could have allowed a little bit more liniency in his tests and assignments.
--------------
--------------
--------------
Professor Mulderink was a very good teacher. His course was set up in a way to help students succeed.
--------------
the prof is very informed and i appreciate that, but i'm concerned that the work load is a little heavy for a lower level class. also i believe the professor needs to be more clear about how he wants us to answer test questions. but overall the class is well structured and the professor can answer any question we throw at him.
--------------
Different colors for your PowerPoint. Mix it up to keep my attention!
--------------
i liked the class
--------------
I'm impressed with this class. The only thing that is hard is the Service Learning projects, it's hard to find time to do a good project.
--------------
I thought that this class was very organized but I did not like the set up for the tests. I felt there was to much information to study effectively.
--------------
This class was different than other history classes that I have taken in the past. I felt that there should have been more tests spread out over the semester, rather than a mid-term and a final.
