Diagnostic Essay
What's a "diagnostic essay?
A short piece of writing designed to let me (your instructor) see how much you already know about writing.
What should I do?
Write a short essay--about 500 words or the equivalent of two typed, double-spaced pages--explaining what you think an education can and/or should do for you.
Then what?
E-mail or fax your essay to me if you've typed it. Or you may even use the regular postal service if you've written this assignment out by hand.
Will I be graded?
No. I'll respond to the essay by letting you know what it tells me about your current writing skills. If I think you need more preparation before you take this class, I'll let you know that as well.
