SUU English 101: Guidelines
for Sending Responses to Listserv Groups

Steps to sending wordprocessing files to listserv groups:

  1. SAVE your paper (using the SAVE AS function in WordPerfect) as ASCII (standard). If you are using Microsoft Word, save your file as a text only document with line breaks. Be sure to give your copy for your group a different name from the draft you're copying; otherwise, you'll wipe out all your working draft!
  2. Enter Pegasus Mail
  3. OPEN a NEW MAIL message
  4. ADDRESS your letter to your group.
  5. Type a short but specific description of what you're sending in the subject line.
  6. Type a little memo asking your group to read your work; include any questions you might have for your readers.
  7. With the cursor positioned where you want the paper to start, i.e. one line below the memo, go to the menu bar at the top of your screen and click on the floppy disk icon with the arrow LEAVING the disk. There are two disk icons: one with an arrow entering the disk, the other with the arrow leaving the disk. As an added safety, the prompt will say "FROM DISK" when your cursor is sitting on the right one.
  8. SELECT the proper drive and file name.
  9. Select OK The file should now appear in the letter.
  10. WRITE something at the bottom of the paper/letter so your group members know they have the whole thing.
  11. SEND the letter/paper

There. Wasn't that easy?!?
