Research

The primary focus of my scholarly work is to extend existing theories regarding the rhetoric of attack (kategoria) and apology (apologia) as well as to further develop my theory involving discursive responses to apologetic rhetoric (antapologia).  Although much of my work involves disclaiming discourse (rhetoric that cedes credit for harmful acts), a fair amount of my research also involves acclaiming discourse (rhetoric that takes credit for successful acts).  Additionally, I am working on a line of research that examines clash in presidential debates.
