Kevin Tipton currently a nursing faculty at Southern Utah University. Kevin graduated from Brigham Young University in 1988 with Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. In 1993 he completed his Master of Nursing degree with an emphasis in nursing administration from the University of Phoenix. He is currently a doctoral student through Capella University working in the school of public leadership with an emphasis in Health Care Administration.
Kevin has worked in several clinical and hospital based settings including emergency, medical surgical, neurology, orthopedics and rehabilitation. Currently he works part time at Dixie Regional Medical Center emergency department in St. George, Utah and Valley View Medical Center emergency department in Cedar City, Utah.
Kevin taught for BYU in their clinical labs as an undergraduate student in 1987, Utah Valley State College as a nursing faculty 1989 - 1996, and Dixie State College as a nursing faculty. In 1996 Kevin was hired by Dixie College to write and direct a new nursing program. That experience provided Kevin the opportunities of directing and writing nine different health care programs which include, certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nursing, registered nursing, baccalaureate nursing, emergency medical technician, paramedic, dental hygiene, phlebotomy and surgical technology. In 2003, Kevin was hired by the Dixie Applied Technology College in St. George to write health programs for that college. He directed and wrote programs in pharmacology technician, medical assistant and health unit coordinator.
Kevin's scholarly accomplishments and interests include being published twice in Nursing 97, and Nursing 98. Kevin is past President of Utah Nurses Association District 3 and a current member of Utah Nurses Association and American Nurses Association. While at Utah Valley State College, he was six time candidate for teacher of the year and student choice for teacher of the year in 1994. While at Dixie State College, Kevin was employee of the semester in Fall 2000 and employee of the year 2001.
