Dr. Jessica Tvordi is an Associate Professor of English at SUU. She teaches introductory literature and theory courses, as well as courses in British Literature through the seventeenth century. Dr. Tvordi’s research interests include Shakespeare, Milton, lyric and epic poetry, non-public drama (the court masque, Inns of Courts plays, university performances), all of which she examines within a New Historicist framework that considers the role the rhetoric of deviance plays in narratives of nation formation in early modern England.

A native of Connecticut, Dr. Tvordi headed west in 1993, when she began her M.A. in English at the University of Wyoming. After completing her Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in 2001, she taught for a year at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA.
