Objective: To further advance the objective of the lecture class that accompanies this laboratory class. These objectives include developing an advanced understanding of instrumental analysis in Forensic Chemistry. The focus of this class will center around chromatography, mass spectroscopy and IR and UV-Vis Spectroscopy. In order that students have both a theorectical understanding and a working knowledge of this important instrumentation used in Forensic Chemistry, we will use all instrumentation in the laboratory. Student will know how they work and will be able to use them. Laboratory experiments will include experiments to familiarize the students with the instrumentation and assigned open ended projects where students must develop the methods. Additionally, QA/QC principles will utiiized thourought all laborory sessions.
Required Texts: Laboratory experiments to be provided. This a “hands on” class. Requirement for each laboratory experiment will handed out to the students as needed.
