Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs)
Red Rock Great Teaching Retreat

Each Spring, the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning sends a number of interested faculty from across campus to the Red Rock Great Teaching Retreat. Participants may nominate themselves for participation through the Faculty Center, or Deans and Chairs may make direct recommendations.
iPadagogs
During Spring 2013, a number of select SUU faculty will be piloting course in which they use an iPad as their primary pedagogical tool. Although the roster of participants has already been set, the team will present their findings in a special meeting or LunchBytes in April 2013.
Textbook-Free Course Design
One faculty member from each academic college will be selected (based on an application process) to redesign one of their Spring 2013 courses to operate with NO printed textbooks--instead, the courses will be founded on open source, fair use texts and library holdings. Those selected will coordinate efforts with each other and be compensated by the Faculty Center for their time and efforts.
Pedagogical Book Club
Tony Pellegrini is leading two book club groups Fall 2012 through Encouraging the Heart: A Leader's Guide to Rewarding and Recognizing Others by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner . Group I meets every-other Tuesday at 1 p.m. in LIB 315; Group II meets every-other Thursday at 11 a.m. in LIB 315.
Although membership in this book club is now closed, faculty are encouraged to recommend additional developmental book clubs to the Faculty Center Director!
Team Coaching
A number of invested faculty from across academic disciplines will coordinate through the Faculty Center to visit each other's classes, providing observation, feedback, and encouragement. This FLC is open to all interested faculty with no predetermined cap.
