Was this assessment criterion achieved? [] yes [] no
What were the results?

All students who have completed the library media license in the last three years have at least a 2.0 GPA for the LM courses.

How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
The curriculum of all LM courses has been critically examined this year as courses have been readied for web delivery.

1b. Graduates will earn a teaching license.

Was this assessment criterion implemented? [] yes [] no
Was this assessment criterion achieved? [] yes [] no
What were the results?

100% of the students completing the LM license also completed either an elementary or secondary Utah teaching license.

How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
Information concerning the new web delivery of our license courses has been distributed to all public schools in Utah and Nevada to reach teachers who already have teaching licenses and desire to complete the media license.

2a. 80% of graduates will agree with the statement, "The number, availability, and frequency of course offerings was appropriate."

Was this assessment criterion implemented? [] yes [] no
Was this assessment criterion achieved? [] yes [] no

What were the results?
All students who completed the survey (14 of 21 distributed) agreed or strongly agreed with this statement. All of these students were on campus students. We have received 20 requests since March for off-campus delivery and hope to meet these students' needs with web delivery.

How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
The two grants we have received from HETI during the past two years have funded the conversion of the license to web delivery to be available Fall Semester 2001.

3a. 80% of graduates will agree with the statement, "I feel the program has prepared me well for my post-baccalaureate plans."
Was this assessment criterion implemented? [] yes [] no
Was this assessment criterion achieved? [] yes [] no
What were the results?

Of the 14 surveys returned, nine were from former students now working in the school library media centers. Responses include: "I felt the instruction was very worthwhile," and "I was very happy with the program."

How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
As we prepare for NCATE accreditation, the program will be compared with the ALA/AASL guidelines.

3b. Five years after graduation 80% of students will agree with the statement, "Library materials, services and instruction at SUU prepared me for post-baccalaureate education and/or work."

Was this assessment criterion implemented? [] yes [] no
Was this assessment criterion achieved? [] yes [] no
What were the results?

All surveyed students agreed or strongly agreed to this statement.

How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
As a result of comments such as "Hands-on visit to a school media center would be helpful" and the success of our service learning project in North Sanpete School District, and our visit to four Washington County Media Centers, we will enhance these activities in the future.
