Mission Statement:
The mission of the Department of Technology and Criminal Justice is to provide students with career and job entry skills through certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs designed to meet the needs of education, industry and government, including in-service training and technical support.
This mission will be accomplished by the following activities:
1) Providing for a credentialed, and responsive faculty which is enhanced by practical experience, in-service training, and utilization of state of the art facilities.
2) Augmentation of student professional development by participation in local, state, and nationally sponsored student organizations which emphasize interpersonal and leadership skills and work ethics.
3) Enrichment of the student educational experience through the availability of scholarships, internships, cooperative education, lifetime pursuit offerings and career preparation.
4) Sponsoring a special showcase of student achievement for university and secondary education students through an annual Technology Fair.
Goals
The primary goal of the Technology and Criminal Justice Department is to prepare students with the technical knowledge and skills necessary to succeed within their respective disciplines. We desire to produce graduates that will be an asset to their community and leaders in society. The department also seeks to be a service entity to the industries/organizations in our area and work in close cooperation with them in providing updated training for their employees as well as training our students to fill their needs.
Intended Outcomes/Activities
1) The department will achieve a high level of placement for our graduates
2) Students will be satisfied with the learning opportunities afforded to them by the department.
3) Students will be prepared for post graduation plans in their respective fields.Assessment Criteria and Procedures
Graduating students and employers will be interviewed/surveyed to determine program satisfaction and identify particular strengths and weaknesses in the program offerings. Each program area holds an advisory committee meeting each semester to review curriculum content providing guidance and direction to the programs.
Implementation
All senior students will complete an exit survey to determine program satisfaction. The department will also send a survey to employers and students one year after graduation to ascertain whether or not training has been adequate and to determine any deficiencies that the program may have.
