Was the assessment criterion achieved? Yes
What were the results?
The unit scored in the 97th percentile. The performance on the exam at the 97th percentile was well above our 75th percentile target. How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
These results signal that our curriculum is hitting the target. We assess the individual indicators by subject area, and share that data widely. Each assessment indicator by subject is above the standard this cycle. In the past, if a subject area was unusually low, we have the faculty evaluate what the potential causes are and then modify their approach as necessary.2. The school will survey all graduating seniors annually on the day of graduation as to their placement in jobs or graduate schools.

What were the results?
Generally, the results look good. The number of students interested in and applying to graduate programs is well over 75 percent. Employment placement was down this year, probably due to the economy. The placement in professional occupations at the time of graduation was only about 60 percent.
How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
We are pleased that the level of interest in graduate schools remains high.3. The assessment of fit with employers will be achieved by a survey of employers every third year wherein each program area of the department contacts a minimum of 10 potential employers of students to create an ideal profile of an entry-level employee with respect to the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to succeed in that area of employment.

What were the results?
The results are still being tallied, but it appears that employers are generally pleased with our graduates. As in past years, employers value communication skills, as well as computing skills. Basic business competence is a given. How will the results be used to improve the curriculum and/or pedagogy of the program?
The School will continue its policy of having a major writing or presentation assignment in every upper-division class. Our implementation of our systems requirements across the curriculum appears to be working well. The inclusion of QuickBooks Pro into our introductory accounting sequence has been successful and well-received.4. Curriculum fit will be evaluated with student opinions gathered through several formal focus group interviews every third year.
