EQUIPMENT

This project will include overnight accomodations at university dormitories and a park facility at Fire Island and amenieties will be limited. No bed linens will be provided so participants need to bring sleeping bags. Participants should review the equipment lists provided on this page to make sure that all needs are met. Students are encouraged to bring their own camping/backpacking equipment.

CLOTHING
Hat(s) (brimmed for sun protection, wool/fleece for cool weather)
Shirts (T-shirts and some long sleeved for cooler weather and sun protection)
Jackets (windbreaker AND fleece/wool jacket)
Rain gear (Poncho, light rain jacket. Be prepared fo rain. Small, collapsible umbrella)
Long Pants (at least for island hikes)
Boots/shoes (sturdy footwear is highly recommended)
Socks (lightweight inner socks with thicker, outer socks for lots of walking)
Shorts (option for warmer weather)

BASIC TRIP EQUIPMENT
Knapsack or day pack
Water bottle

Lip balm and sun block
Bandana
Flashlight
Notebook and pen/pencil
Insect Repellent
Camera*
Binoculars*
