Cedar Breaks National Monument lies on the edge of the Colorado Plateau. At over 10,000 feet in elevation the views over the red rock cliffs of "The Breaks" is breathtaking at any season but there is something special about a winter trip into the monument. The highlights of snow on the cliffs, quiet solitude, and crystal clear night skies make it a wonderful January get away.
Cedar Breaks invited Southern Utah University honors students to spend a three-day weekend in the monument's winter station as part of their long range planning efforts to increase and improve winter use. PITP also used this project to test the feasibilty of adding winter adventures to our program.
