The
Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument is a large, rugged, wilderness
covering more than 1 million acres between the Colorado River and UT/AZ border.
There are no services within the Monument and the only access is via dirt
roads, from Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. The monument protects important Colorado
Plateau watershed as well as historical, cultural, and natural treasures.
SUU honors faculty will lead this primitive adventure into one of the least
visited parks in the lower 48.
Though much of the project will be high adventure
hiking/camping we will have access to an NPS/BLM field station on Mt. Trumbull
providing water and bathroom facilities. This will be a wild and primitive
adventure recommended for students/faculty with previous outdoor experience.
